One of the sweetest sounds to students is when that last bell in the last class rings to signal school is out for summer. The sudden appearance of interns around the office is as sure a sign that summer has arrived as the sighting of the first cornflower.June marks the beginning of the season, when workplaces become briefly filled with new blooms eager to make an impression. For those hired from business schools, the typical placement will last around 10 weeks, before the call of lectures and a second year of study draws them back to college.

Google

At present, Google have opportunities for students pursuing all kinds of degrees, from Computer Science to Business, from Humanities to Mathematics, from Languages to Journalism, and pretty much everything in between. Google Internships are full-time positions.
Start and end dates are flexible with regard to academic schedules, but you’ll be expected to commit to at least three months of work. Working with your host and other members of your group will enable you to learn about the specific work done by your team, but the learning does not stop there.
They offer all interns a competitive salary and relocation assistance. Google’s intern team also organizes specific events exclusively for interns. Past events have included a baseball game, hockey game, a night out at the theater, a bay cruise, bowling, rock-climbing, ice cream socials, and much more.

Vogue

Vogue magazine internships, although difficult to obtain, are not impossible to obtain. A lot of people look to intern with Vogue magazine for a number of reasons. Some want the hands-on experience in journalism.
Others may want a mentor within the specific organization. Some may have an extreme love of fashion and just want to be in that type of environment, even if not getting paid! Whatever the reason, the first step to obtaining that prized internship would be to create a CV or a resume of sorts, and present you to them directly.

Pixar

Pixar offers a wide range of avenues to explore when applying for positions. The studio operates both technical director and animations internships which run at various points throughout the year. The TD programs are for either three or six months and offered all year round.
They focus on a wide range of disciplines within the company for people to develop their skills. The animation internship is slightly different in that it typically runs during the summer months of June, July and August, lasting 12 weeks. There’s also plenty of time made for play. Past interns think back fondly on the free cereal bar, dodge ball matches, celebrity sightings, company parties, and movie screenings.

The White House

The White House Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills. This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate today’s young leaders, strengthen their understanding of the Executive Office and prepare them for future public service opportunities. The White House Internship Program’s mission is to make the “People’s House” accessible to future leaders from around the nation. These jobs are unpaid.

FASB Postgraduate Technical Assistant Program

Both the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board sponsor a postgraduate technical assistant program twice a year (programs commence in summer and winter) for individuals who are planning a career with an emphasis in accounting.
Candidates for the internship program must be nominated by a member of their schools’ accounting departments and approved by the dean or department chairperson. Salaries are competitive with public accounting and private industry.

JP Morgan Chase

During their Quantitative Research summer internship, you’ll work on a unique and concrete project under the guidance of experienced quantitative researchers. You’ll have opportunities to learn the models, products and technologies associated with a particular trading business or risk function.
You’ll also have opportunities to participate in networking and training activities designed to give you a wide exposure to Quantitative Research at J.P. Morgan. If your summer experience is a success, you may be offered an opportunity to work full-time after graduation.

Marvel

Who doesn’t like to read comic books? Marvel offers several different kinds of internships, some you wouldn’t expect. Like most businesses we need different departments to keep the old ship going full steam ahead, and we encourage students to apply to more than one department if they feel they have the skills that fit the bill.
The 30-odd positions are unpaid and are only awarded to students who can receive college credit for them, and some of your duties may involve making copies or similarly mind-numbing activities.
